Kate McMullenate McMullan taught fourth grade in Los Angeles and sixth grade on an Air Force Base in Germany before moving to New York City and becoming an author. To date, she has written more than one hundred books for kids.

She and her husband, the noted illustrator Jim McMullan, have created a picture book series featuring monologs by big vehicles, including a garbage trunk (I STINK!) and a backhoe loader (I'M DIRTY!). Their books are the inspiration behind Amazon's popular animated series for preschoolers, THE STINKY & DIRTY SHOW.

For new readers, Kate wrote stories about Fluffy, the Classroom Guinea Pig and Pearl & Wagner, about a rabbit-mouse friendship. Pearl & Wagner: One Funny Day received a 2011 Geisel Honor.

Dragon Slayers' Academy, Kate's series of early chapter books, features Medieval mayhem, bad knock-knock jokes, and a pig Latin-speaking pig.

For middle graders, Kate has written Myth-o-Mania, the Greek myths as told by Hades.

Kate has five picture books in the works: a monolog by a little pickup truck, I'M TOUGH!, a story about Toby and Pinkie, the McMullan's French bulldogs, As Warm as the Sun, two animal-inspired rhymes, How Do YOU Take a Bath? and How Do YOU Go to Sleep?, and to celebrate Earth Day, This is the Tree We Planted.
